If your neck feels stiff or sore after scrolling on your phone, you’re not alone. This is often called “tech neck,” and it’s becoming more common in everyday life.
The main reason is posture.
When you look down at your phone, your head tilts forward. While your head normally weighs around 4–5 kg, that weight feels much heavier to your neck at an angle. Over time, this puts extra strain on your muscles and joints.
Even a few minutes might feel fine, but hours of this position — checking messages, watching videos, or working — can lead to tension and discomfort.
You might also notice tight shoulders or even headaches. That’s because the muscles in your neck and upper back are all connected and working harder than they should.
The good news is that small adjustments can help a lot.
Try holding your phone at eye level instead of looking down. Take short breaks to stretch your neck and shoulders. Even simple movements, like gently rolling your shoulders or looking side to side, can relieve tension.
Being aware of your posture is the first step. Once you notice it, it becomes easier to correct.
Your body is built to move — not stay in one position for too long.
Practical Tip: Raise your phone to eye level and take a quick stretch break every 20–30 minutes.
